What is Satta

Power is a power, and this power is given by the people of the country to those rulers, who win by the vote of the common man. Power is also known as the ability to control people or things or to do something. But usually we understand power by linking it to the party.

If BJP wins then power is in their hands and Congress wins, then power is in Congress hands. And this is what we call the power game.

Every person or country makes many efforts to justify its power. When its power gets the justified support of the people, it gets converted into power.

In general, authority is the conduct on the basis of which one exercises his power. Power is also a special kind of justifiable effect. Power is the institutional and legal form of power. It arises when the relationship between the ruler and the ruled is established.

Harald Loswell considered it to be an effect. In a simple sense, power is the decision-making power that influences the actions of others.

definition of power

It has also been defined by many scholars as follows:-

Herbert Simon called it the power of decision making.

According to UNESCO's 1955 report - "Power is that which is accepted, respected, known and justified."

According to Byerstedt – “Power is the institutional right to exercise power, not power itself.”

According to Beech – “Power is the justified right to influence and direct the actions of others”.

According to Rowe- “Power is the right of an individual or group of individuals to form political decisions and influence political behaviour.”

According to Bernard Barber and Emitoy Irgioni, “Power is justified power”.

According to S.E. Finer- “Power over power refers to the whole environment of those external influences, which can compel a person to move forward in the desired direction under his influence.”

According to E.M. Coulter- “Power is the ability to cause an event which would not have happened without that ability.”

According to J. Frederick- “The ability to prove the justification of what is desired only on the basis of will, will or preference, is called power.”

Thus it can be said that power is the power of the state governed by the rulers of the state which is based on justification.

nature of power

Power is the power to make decisions that guide the actions of others. Power is formal, definite and specific. Its nature is statutory and organizational. Two theories about its nature -

1. Formal Power Theory - The influence of power runs from top to bottom, the authority has the right to command and to form a bureaucracy. According to this principle, power carries with it justification to maintain order.

2. Acceptance Principle - Power is legally only formal and it gets real basis only when it is accepted by the subordinates. But subordinates must have the ability to understand the position of power.

key components of power

There are two main components of power:-

1. Power - When power gets the justified support of the people, then it gets legitimacy. The meaning of power is to make others obey their orders according to their will.

2. Legitimacy - Both power and legitimacy help each other to maintain order in the society. Both power and justification play an important role in keeping power in effect.
